Had a great time meeting new and old friends at St. Louis Association of Community Organization’s 23rd annual regional neighborhoods conference. I support community organizations that serve and stand for the needs of the people!
SLACO was founded 40 years as a way for metropolitan neighborhoods to band together to address the needs and concerns of their residents. Currently SLACO’s membership is 33 percent of the population of the City of St. Louis!
From http://www.slaco-mo.org/about-.html: “SLACO is guided by principles of self determination, democracy, and an undying faith in the goodness and wisdom of the people in the neighborhoods. The SLACO board consists of two representative from seven clusters and four at-large members. SLACO's professional staff works on issues and projects determined by the Board and neighborhood leaders.”
